Michelle Richmond at the Sutro BathsMICHELLE RICHMOND is the author of four books of fiction, including the New York Times and San Francisco Chronicle best seller THE YEAR OF FOG, which was one of Library Journal’s Best Books of 2007, a Kirkus Reviews top pick for reading groups, a Washington Post A-List selection, and a San Francisco Chronicle Notable Book. The Year of Fog was also a bestseller in Germany and is forthcoming in eight other foreign-language translations. It is currently in development with Newmarket Films.

Michelle’s latest novel, NO ONE YOU KNOW, was published in 2008 and will be released in paperback as a Random House Readers’ Circle selection in May. She is also the author of DREAM OF THE BLUE ROOM(2003), which explores prejudice and sexuality against the backdrop of China’s Three Gorges Dam, and the award-winning linked story collection THE GIRL IN THE FALL-AWAY DRESS (2001).

The recipient of the 2009 Hillsdale Award for Fiction from the Fellowship of Southern Writers, she has also received fellowships from the Millay Colony, the Saltonstall Foundation, and the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. Her stories and essays have appeared in Glimmer Train, Playboy, Oxford American, The Believer, Salon, The Kenyon Review, The Missouri Review, and elsewhere.
